8minutes46seconds : a response to the murder of George Floyd

The 8minutes46seconds Series is a 10-piecersponse to the murder of George Floyd. As a social worker, I have worked in residential treatment where restraints were necessary in de-escalation strategies. 8 minutes and 46 seconds is more than enough time to think, assess for injury and safety, be informed by others of the same and release him. Pieces are timed (8:46) uninterrupted mark-making on grocery bags using abstract marks, words spoken by Floyd during his murder and words relevant to the murder  (Listed below) exploring the physical and emotional labors of systemic racism and the need for change.
